Neighbourhood officers meet with man whose life they saved

Dear Resident,

Back in April, we told you about how our city centre officers were in the right place at the right time.

As they were pulling up to the Town Hall to begin their foot patrols, a man collapsed in front of them. Our officers acted immediately – while one commenced CPR, our PCSO rushed into the Town Hall to get a defibrillator. Other colleagues arrived to assist with the CPR until paramedics arrived and took over.

The quick actions of our officers ultimately saved the man’s life, who was taken to hospital in the company of his family to be cared for by medics.

Since the incident, our officers have kept in regular contact with the man’s daughter and had the opportunity to pay them a visit last week. It was great to meet him and get the chance to learn all about his very interesting life.

No two days in policing are ever the same, we never know quite what we are going to be faced with when we come into work, and we are glad the man has made a positive recovery.

Kind regards,
